Wietske Otter was born in 1957 in Rotterdam. She has lived in Houten since 1989. Besides a passion for photography, she also started making paintings a few years ago. Originally she made fairly abstract works under the direction of visual artist Rolina van Vliet from Hoevelaken. She paints with acrylic paint because the drying time is shorter and so she can work faster. Most works are made with a palette knife and brush, or even sometimes with fingers. To create texture and relief, the artist often uses materials such as aluminum foil, shell sand or tree bark. The artist often works intuitively, starting from a certain idea, which can gradually turn out completely differently.
