Born in Curacao to Lebanese parents, Lubna Chahal has always sought creative outlets. Growing up, she dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. After graduating high school, she pursued her dream, attending the International Fine Arts College in Miami, Florida. While there, she was introduced to many different forms of art and had the opportunity to explore her creative side, including illustration and painting.
Inspired by expressionist artists such as Kandinsky and Alexej von Jawlensky and Fauvist artists such as Henri Matisse and Andre Derain, color takes center stage in Lubna’s works, becoming more important than format.
Lubna loves the fast-drying nature of acrylic paint, her preferred medium, which allows her to capture a moment in time. All of her works are completed in one session: full of emotion, catharsis, revitalisation and purification.
