Josée van Schuppen paints expressive, mixed media intuitive landscapes, Soulscapes. Often spontaneous and explosive, sometimes serene. To her, colour is the essence. She discovered that colours have frequencies, like music notes, with a great influence on our mood. While painting, Josée lets them tell their story. Usually with music of U2, Bowie or swinging salsa at the background. She often dances around her paintings during the creative process, just like Jackson Pollock.
After a severe horseback-riding accident, she had to turn her life around completely. She attended the course Expressive Art from movement and started experimenting with various materials and techniques like action painting, dripping and pouring. Her work appears organic, putting her whole heart and soul in it!
The four elements Fire, Water, Earth and Air are her sources of inspiration. Flow, freedom and connection are her main themes. She experiences every creation like an exciting adventure. It is especially the imperfection and the unpolished that fascinates her.
