Expositie BLOOMING LOVE
Beauty is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder. But who could deny the amazing beauty of flowers, as they decadently flourish and catch the light as they explode in surreal colouring. Just to fade and die under our very eyes. There is something unearthly in their vulnerable and short lives, and yet is was the earth that surrounded and fed the tiny seeds that kept the promise of their existence. They are miraculous, don’t you think! In art, flowers are for the keeping. Many floral painters came before me and inspired me. From the 16the century works full of symbolism, the botanical paintings used for education, to the modern work that painters make today. But most of the inspiration still comes from real live flowers and plants, as seen in exotic far away places or in the botanical garden next to my apartment. Picket by my eye and put on canvas in wild, elaborate bouquets.
From childhood on I was fascinated by flowers. Wanted to posses them and have that beauty for myself. In my picking sprees I could not even spare my neighbours gardens. And in my younger years I began to draw them, paint them, and later design floral patterns. In high school I was an super enthusiastic student in the drawing lessons and a few years later I went to the teachers academy HR&O Rotterdam to become a teacher in art myself. I specialised in textiles, patterns and fashion drawing. After graduation, I followed a lot of courses in my home town Leiden.
Due to my life as a mother, painting was more on the back ground for a few years. Since 2017 however, I got renewed drive and inspiration for creating again and the endless possibilities of acrylic paint made me again into a enthusiastic and active painter. Places of exhibition are; De Burcht 2018/2019/Leiden, Bocconi 2019/ Leiden, BeeldSchoon 2019/… Leiden, LUMC 2020/Leiden and GGZ 2020/ Leiden.
