Hinke Huisman (Meppel, 1980)
Nature is the source of inspiration for the versatile artist Hinke Huisman. She started her creative work in stone, wood and steel. After a few years, at the academy in Rotterdam, her love for paint awoke. Painting in large format, direct and atmospheric, on the edge of figuration and abstraction.
During teacher training and her work in education she remained active as a visual artist. She exhibited at various locations in the Netherlands and abroad.
In 2014, Hinke opens the doors of her studio in Naarden. She creates objects, writes, paints, draws and teaches. With an inspiring spark she moves the creativity of many. Changing perspectives and pleasure in the process are the starting points of her successful training.
Every day starts with a walk in silence. The location, composition, light, structures, everything can be an inspiration. The moment is sometimes recorded on photo, but often simply experienced. From those experiences, a painting later emerged. No literal reproduction, but an interpretation from material on canvas. In the Earth series coffee grounds are the basic material. Catching the moment in a painting, with all the space for the viewer’s own experience.
