Several years ago my grandmother said to me: “Bert, why don’t you draw anymore? You used to be so good at it. It could have gotten you far!” So for her next birthday I drew her portrait for her. And that’s how it all started…
After doing several more drawings I decided to try it with paint and brushes. First acrylic, later also oil paint.
Apart from some drawing lessons and two painting lessons, I am completely self-taught. Its making mistakes, and then figuring out how to not make them again, that has made me the painter I am today.
Painting opened up a whole new world for me. I love doing it, I enjoy it, and I have every intention to keep doing it!
