Anne Charlotte was born and brought up in The Hague in the late eighties. Her father was a gallery owner art dealer. Her grandmother was one of the women to study at the Royal Academy of Arts and her mother worked for international art fairs for years. It was therefore a matter-of-course that Anne Charlotte (artist and founder of LAVISH LABEL) followed in the footsteps of her relatives.
“It is to say that I grew up with art. An important remark regarding this is that my family focused on classical art, while I am personally far more interested in contemporary art.”
The work of Anne Charlotte can be recognised by the abstract, often profound shapes and the metallic elements. She works with vibrant, vivid and dramatic colours. Now and then her work is suddenly very colourful.
Anne Charlotte mainly likes to create a certain vibe. Everyone can make this vibe his or her own, depending on one’s mood or feelings. The beautiful thing about art is that there are no rules. Everyone determines for themselves what art is and how it makes them feel.
“Everyone can do this according to their own emotions or experience, the best thing about art is freedom.” After a long period of time, a decision was made a few years ago to focus entirely on art. “I found it difficult to bring out my own work, because it is so personal, I had hudge problems with it, but at a certain moment I noticed that if I were to get over it I could develop much further. Now I am grateful that I listened to myself. ” All artworks are made by hand using acrylics, ink, structure and mixed media on high quality handcrafted linnen. Anne Charlotte combines several techniques to express her everyday emotion. In every painting a personal message is processed. The title of the work refers in most cases directly to the story behind the painting.
