My name is Adrie de Wee, I was born in Yerseke at 1939, a little fishers village in Zeeland, Holland. Shortly after my birth, I moved to Amsterdam with my parents and brother.I grew up in the east of Amsterdam, went to primary school and afterwards Higher General Secundary Education, where I developed my talent for drawing and painting.
I am married to Betty, she is a couple of years younger than I am; together we have a beautifull, kind daughter, a very kindly son in law and two wonderfull grandsons.
In the 80’s I was touched by the art of Bob Ross. I was so impressed by his way of painting that I tried it myself. Right after I started workshops at Gerry Jenkins, at First flowerpainting and soon I started my style. So you can say : I am a self-taught painter.
I discovered Lady painting when I find out about the Dutch/French painter Kees van Dongen. His use of colours and special way of painting inspired me. He became very famous because of the big black eyes of his models
